The Arterie Looking Forward and Looking Back!
Happy New Year! We three at The Arterie are looking back at 2017 and as we plan ahead for 2018.
We started off 2017 with a new home for The Arterie Burlington, now a collective of 6 private practices. We had a Grand Opening in June to celebrate captured in this lovely video & song by Krista Muir: Ode to the Arterie
Throughout 2017 in Burlington, Mississauga and Toronto, we have worked as psychotherapists with our clients, one-on-one. This is deep work, and another year around the sun finds us more seasoned practitioners. We each feel fortunate to have a dedicated clientele that values this work as we do.
We’ve found opportunities to open our doors for the wider public too: The Arterie hosted an art club at Open Doors Burlington, up the street from our offices at St. Christopher’s church. We had all ages join us, some new to drawing and painting and thrilled with the results (see photo below).
The Arterie also invited art therapist Brianna Kestle to offer a visual journaling workshop called Journal Your Art Out (picture below)!
We hosted McMaster University family medicine residents for a month of creative workshops. In Toronto, Sonomi held a similar workshop on the languages of play used to help heal at Family Services Toronto. Claudia and Sarah continue to help train a new generation of art therapists at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute as instructors. This year, we are hoping that some students may join us as interns.
